The Compleat Multilateral Intellectual & Cultural Property Rights Series (CMICPRS) documents the 134 year history of intellectual & cultural property relations between Nation-States.  In fact, the multilateral ICPR regime pre-dates the term 'Nation-State'.  The term ‘multilateral’ means relations between three or more Nation-States and/or International Organizations such as the United Nations, UNESCO, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). 

Most original instruments are not indexed nor in most cases titled by chapter, section or article.  CMICPRS is the most comprehensive and only standardized, fully titled and indexed edition of these legal instruments which constitute the multilateral intellectual & cultural property rights regime and establish the legal foundation for the industrial organization of the global knowledge-based economy.

CMCR documents 130 years of multilateral copyright & related relations beginning with the Berne Convention of 1886 and ending globally with the 2015 Transpacific Partnership.   The regional history begins with the 1889 Montevideo Convention and currently ends with the European Union’s 2014 Canada-European Union: Comprehensive Economic & Trade Agreement (CETA). CMPR documents 125 years of multilateral patent relations beginning with the Paris Convention of 1883 and ending globally with modification of the 2001 WIPO Patent Cooperation Treaty.  CMPR includes forty-one multilateral patent and related instruments fully titled, indexed and presented by summary title and organized geographically – Global, Africa, Americas (Latin & North), Eurasia, Europe (Council of Europe, European Economic Area, European Free Trade Area, European Patent Office and the European Union) and South-East Asia (ASEAN);

CMTMID documents 125 years of the multilateral trademark & industrial design relations beginning with the Paris Convention of 1883 and ending globally with the 2006 Singapore Trademark Treaty.  CMTMID includes thirty-eight multilateral trademark & industrial design and related instruments fully titled, indexed and presented by summary title organized geographically – Global, Africa, Americas (Latin & North), Europe  (European Economic Area and the European Union) and South-East Asia (ASEAN); and,

 

Vol. IV - The Compleat Multilateral Cultural Property & Related Agreements, Charters, Conventions and  Treaties 1874-2008, Feb. 2009, ISBN 978-0-9689523-8-2

CMCPR documents 134 years of multilateral cultural property relations beginning with the Brussels’ Declaration of 1874 and ending globally with the 2005 UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity which came into force in 2008.  CMCPR includes fifty-three multilateral cultural property and related instruments fully titled, indexed and presented by summary title and organized geographically – Global, Africa, Americas (Latin & North) and Europe (Council of Europe and the European Union).

 

Each volume consists of five parts:

1. Introduction: outlines the organization and limitations of the work, provides analysis of the economic and legal nature of knowledge and outlines the historical evolution of intellectual & cultural property rights in the two dominant global legal traditions - Anglosphere Common Law and European Civil Code; 

2. Multilateral Lexicon: of ‘legal terms’ defining the types of Instruments making up the multilateral intellectual & cultural property rights regime and the terms and conditions for their performance. The Lexicon has been distilled from many sources.  The Editor is solely responsible for its composition, errors and/or omissions.  Capitalized Terms therein cross-reference other entries in the Lexicon; 

3. Summary Index of Instruments;

4. Instruments: each fully titled, indexed and presented in a standardized format to facilitate comparison.  Originals are not published in a standard format nor, in many cases, do they include full titling of provisions and/or indexing.  References in originals are, however, fully maintained.  The status of each Instrument is also reported, e.g., when and how Nation-States and International Organizations became party.   For a comparison of a Compiler Press presentation with originals, please see: Convention for the European Patent for the Common Market 1975: Original vs. CMIPRS;  and,
